Church Of The Little Flower

A Roman Catholic church, the Church of the Little Flower was established in 1926 in Coral Gables FL, Country Club Section. In keeping with Coral Gables’ Mediterranean Revival architecture, the church’s dome in 1951 was constructed in the Spanish Renaissance style.

Coral Gables is a developed community where a small group of Catholics requested the establishment of the church in 1926. The daughter of Democratic presidential candidate and well-known orator William Jennings Bryan was born on October 2, 1885, in Jacksonville, Illinois. During World War I, Ruth Bryan Owen, a nurse was named after the waterway park. is She lived in Coral Gables, was Vice President of the first Board of Regents of the University of Miami from 1925 to 1928, and taught speech at the university from 1926 to 1928.

Betsy Adams Coral Gables Garden Park

Betsy Adams and the Coral Gables Garden Club are honored in this public park for their efforts to beautify Coral Gables. In the 1990s and 2000s, visionary leader Betsy Adams oversaw the construction of three new city gates, furthering George Merrick’s goal of erecting magnificent gateways into Coral Gables at each important intersection. The George Merrick and Althea Merrick bronze sculptures have since made significant contributions to the city.

Coral Gables Congregational United Church

Coral Gables Congregational Church is a historical Congregational church which was the result of the merger of two Protestant churches. It is found in the neighborhood of Country Club Section. In 1957, the formation of the Coral Gables Congregational United Church resulted in the emergence of the Congregational Christian Church and the Evangelical and Reformed Church.

In 1923, Kiehnel and Elliott architect Richard Kiehnel built the church, which is regarded as a great example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. At 3010 DeSoto Boulevard, the Coral Gables Congregational Church is to be found.
